Former WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez will take on former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux in a bout for the interim WBC super middleweight title either in April or May of next year.
Boxing journalist Dan Rafael was the first to report the news of the matchup and confirmed the bout has been signed with Benavidez's manager Sampson Lewkowicz. Benavidez is undefeated as a pro currently at 25-0 and is coming off of a seventh-round TKO victory over Kyrone Davis back in November. Lemieux meanwhile is 43-4 as a pro and has won his last five fights, defeating David Zegarra via a second-round TKO back in June in his latest outing.
A ton of heart shown by @KyShutitDown but @Benavidez300 was just too much.
