Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier and former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson were reportedly set to meet next month at UFC 254.
It now appears that the fight will not be happening next month, as Poirier says the UFC didn’t meet his terms for the bout.
“UFC and I didn’t come to terms,” Poirier told Ariel Helwani of ESPN. “I will not be fighting on Oct. 24.”
Helwani also reports that Poirier, who was already in training for the potential bout, expects to return to Louisiana sometime next week. There is no word yet if Ferguson will still compete on the card or if he’ll be moved to a different event.
UFC 254 takes place on Saturday, October 24 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
