Julio Arce is competing this November at UFC 230, with Sheymon Moraes serving as his opponent on that night.
While Arce plans on continuing his winning ways at UFC 230, one thing that Arce believes heading into the fight is a victory will get the fighter into the top fifteen for the division.
“Its gonna be an amazing match up, he’s got the gomora muay thai background. You’ve seen me fight a bunch of times, I think our styles are perfect for one another. I just can’t wait to get in there and clash under the big lights, its gonna be exciting. He’s tough, he’s got a good record. This is definitely something…a win over him would project me into the top fifteen, looking forward to that,” says Arce in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Arce currently holds a 2-0-0 record under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over Dan Ige and Daniel Teymur.
Getting into that top fifteen is going to be a tough move for Arce, who knows just how stacked the featherweight division is.
“The featherweight division is so stacked, I can’t even tell who would be next after this because there’s so many people that….either they have a good record and they haven’t been active for a long time. Whether its injury or something else that’s keeping them from being able to fight, then there are the people that are up and coming and they’ve been staying active. At this point, I do not know. All I know is…Sheymon is my next tough task in front of me and once after that, I wanna get a top fifteen guy over there and work my way into the top ten. I just gotta stay on the grind and stay busy and just keep going,” says Arce.
UFC 230 takes place on Saturday, November 3 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Daniel Cormier and Derrick Lewis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
