Mayweather largely dominated the bout, but no winner was announced after eight rounds, as the fight was not officially scored. Using his famous defense, Mayweather controlled the bout. Mayweather also had the referee switched out in the middle of the fight, which sparked some controversy.

After the fight, Mayweather and Gotti III embraced and spoke highly of each other.

Mayweather previously faced Gotti in June 2023, when the fight concluded abruptly due to referee stoppage, and the two competitors brawled.

Mayweather has won multiple world titles. He retired in 2017 but has since competed in some exhibition bouts.
