Francis Ngannou Wants A Title Shot After UFC 226

MMA

Francis Ngannou is facing Derrick Lewis on the main card of UFC 226 and on the same night, UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic defends the gold against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.

The heavyweight contender has previously challenged for the gold held by Miocic and after UFC 226, nothing would please Ngannou more than one more opportunity to become champion.

“I want both, I want the title, and I want the rematch against Stipe.” Ngannou said at a UFC 226 media event. “Doesn’t matter what happens. I want to fix this.”

Miocic picked up a unanimous decision win over Ngannou earlier this year at UFC 220, while UFC 226 serves as both heavyweights first fights since their initial meeting.

Ngannou first has to get past Lewis first and the fighter knows that the “Black Beast” will give him plenty of chances to get the finish.

“OK, I’m another big guy. Instead of going forward, we will be smarter and go back to the Francis before the last fight. Watch my opponent, leave it, come to me, and as soon as he gives me the opportunity, I take it,” says Ngannou.

UFC 226 takes place on Saturday, July 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
