Frankie Edgar vs. Pedro Munhoz Rebooked For UFC 252

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar and Pedro Munhoz were supposed to meet this Wednesday Night at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Ige, but the bout was canned after Munhoz tested positive for the coronavirus.

Fans will not have to wait long for Edgar and Munhoz to finally meet because the duo will fight at UFC 252, which was revealed during the UFC 251 broadcast.

Munhoz (18-4-0-1NC) is competing for the first time in over a year, as his last bout was a loss to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 238. Munhoz has won three of his last five in the UFC, with those wins coming over Brett Johns, Bryan Caraway and Cody Garbrandt. Munhoz has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came in the UFC.

Edgar (23-8-1) is making his UFC Bantamweight Division debut in this fight and does so having won just one of his last four bouts. Edgar is a former UFC Lightweight Champion, defeating BJ Penn to win the gold at UFC 112 in April of 2010. Edgar has competed in three different weight classes in the UFC and has been with the promotion for over thirteen years.

UFC 252 takes place on Saturday, August 15 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a ppost-show podcast to follow.
