Ilima-Lei Macfarlane Defends Flyweight Title Against Veta Arteaga At Bellator 220

A Bellator MMA Women’s Flyweight Title bout was announced for Bellator 220 during the Bellator 214 broadcast as champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane defends the gold against challenger Veta Arteaga.

Macfarlane (9-0-0) is going to be making the third defense of her championship, previously defending it against Valerie Letourneau and Alejandra Lara. Macfarlane won the gold back at Bellator 186, defeating Emily Ducote by fifth round submission. Macfarlane has picked up nine wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of them have come by way of submission.

Arteaga (5-2-0) will enter the bout on the strength of a two fight winning streak, having defeated the duo of Emily Ducote and Denise Kielholtz. Arteaga has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter, with those defeats coming at the hands of Anastasia Yankova and Bruna Ellen. Arteaga has competed seven times as a professional MMA fighter and six of those bouts made it into the third round.

Bellator 220 takes place on Saturday, April 27 from the SAP Center in San Jose, California with Rory MacDonald and Jon Fitch headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which is going to be airing live on the Paramount Network.
