Ilima MacFarlane is currently 4-0-0 as a professional MMA fighter and if she manages to defeat Emily Ducote to become 5-0-0 this weekend at Bellator 167, she’s going to quit her job at a steakhouse in Hawaii.
“If I win my fight, then I’m not coming back,” MacFarlane told MMA Junkie. "I was kind of miserable. All I wanted to do was be at the gym. They want to see me again, but they also don’t want me to lose. I want to leave on good terms, so just in case I do need a job when I get back, it will be there for me.”
MacFarlane has quite the challenge ahead of her in Ducote, who is a collegiate wrestler with a record of 4-1-0 as a pro.
“She’s a collegiate level wrestler,” MacFarlane said. “She’s a blue belt in jiu-jitsu, so she has a solid ground game. She’s finished her last two opponents. This girl is frickin’ well-rounded and a beast. Stylistically, she’s my hardest opponent to date because she’s so well-rounded and our styles are so similar.”
Bellator 167 takes place on Saturday, December 3 from the Winstar Casino & Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma with Darrion Caldwell and Joe Taimanglo headlining.
