Injuries Change Two PFL 8 Bouts, Alternate Fights Set

The playoffs begin this coming Friday Night for the first season of the Professional Fighters League and their has been some changes and additions made to the card according to Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA.

Injuries have caused changes to a pair of bouts on the card, as Jumabieke Tuerxon is replacing an injured Timur Valiev against Alexandre De Almeida and Caio Alencar replaces an injured Valdrin Istrefi against Philipe Lins.

There are also two alternate bouts set for the show as well, with Muhammad DeReese facing Mike Kyle in a heavyweight playoff alternate bout and Marcos Galvao taking on Jeremy Kennedy in a featherweight playoff alternate fight. The only way either of the alternate fighters are going to compete in the playoffs is if one of the fighters suffers an injury and is unable to move on.

With six different weight classes having playoffs in the coming weeks, four more alternate bouts are expected to be announced in the near future.

Professional Fighters League 8 is set for Friday, October 5 from the Ernest N. Morial Center in New Orleans, Louisiana with the heavyweight and featherweight tournament semi-finalists headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the NBC Sports Network.
