A pivotal matchup between UFC lightweight contenders Islam Makhachev and Beneil Dariush has been scheduled to be the main event bout of a yet-to-be-announced UFC Fight Night event on February 26.
ESPN's Brett Okamoto was the first to report the news of the matchup, confirming that both fighters have agreed to the proposed date with the pair's manager Ali Abdelaziz. Makhachev is currently on a nine-fight winning streak and defeated Dan Hooker via a first-round submission due to a kimura at UFC 267 in his most recent Octagon appearance. Dariush meanwhile has won his last seven fights and beat former UFC interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, via a unanimous decision back at UFC 262 in his last outing.
