Israel Adesanya Doesn’t Want The UFC To Baby Him

Israel Adesanya headlines his first UFC card this Friday Night when the undefeated competitor faces Brad Tavares at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale.

The fighter has had a quick rise up the UFC thus far, but he wants to make sure there is no babying from the UFC.

“I don’t want to be babied all the way to the top. The UFC have been looking after me. I’ve been getting the fights I want, they just didn’t know that I wanted them. They aren’t rushing me, I’m going at my own pace and I’m cruising,” Adesanya said to MMA Fighting.

Adesanya has already picked up two wins under the UFC banner, defeating the duo of Rob Wilkinson and Marvin Vettori.

Although some may think Adesanya has risen to quickly tosuch a big position in the company, one thing the fighter wants people to do is see his body of work before coming to the UFC.

“People think I just showed up out of nowhere. They don’t know anything about the body of work I’ve put together over the last 10 years; they don’t realize where I’ve been or know about the asses I’ve been kicking all over the world,” says Adesanya.

UFC Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale takes place on Friday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Brad Tavares and Israel Adesanya headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
