Israel Adesanya Excited About Jared Cannonier Matchup At UFC 276: "I Like Having New Blood"

Reigning UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, is excited to face a new challenger this weekend.

Adesanya spoke with reporters at the media day for this Saturday night's UFC 276 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas, Nevada ahead of his title defense against Jared Cannonier, and explained why he's looking forward to facing a new contender at 185-pounds.

"It's new blood, and I feel like a vampire right now," Adesanya said. "I'm dark, and my people around me know, they just know how it is when it comes to this part of the camp, like the fight week. New blood, that's all I'm going to say. I like having new blood. The last two (fights), the (Marvin) Vettori one I got bored. The Robert (Whittaker) one I was waiting a little bit, and I didn't like that for my performance. I like having to rise to the occasion. That's the difference between me and him. I'm used to the spotlight, I'm used to all this shit. He's not, he's new to it. I feel like he's man enough and mature enough to handle it, but not like me."
