John Hackleman Not A Fan Of Chuck Liddell/Jon Jones Feud

Coach John Hackleman was at the side of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell throughout his professional MMA career.

The returning Liddell has been embroiled in a feud with former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and it is a feud Hackleman doesn’t like very much.

Eight Biggest Upsets in MMA in the Last Year

“It’s kinda awkward,” Hackleman said on The MMA Hour. “I mean, it’s an awkward back-and-forth. I don’t like it.”

Liddell has been going back and forth with Jones for a few years not, but the heat on the rivalry has been going higher ever since Liddell announced that he is coming out of retirement.

Hackleman believes the trash talking between the fighters should be similar to that of other stars like Chael Sonnen and Rampage Jackson.

“I don’t like that kind of meanness,” Hackleman said. “Like, I love when guys go back and forth in a fun way, like ‘Rampage’ used to, or even like Chael Sonnen used to. I like that kind of funny stuff. Or McGregor, he used to. But then they push it too far, and to me, it gets mean and mean-spirited, and it just takes away from everything and it doesn’t put anything into this martial art based sport. I think it takes away from it. So I don’t really like it.”

A bout between the two is highly unlikely for now, since Liddell is apparently fighting for Golden Boy MMA and Jones is still under a UFC deal.
