John Kavanagh Shows Old Email Of UFC Rejecting Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor and John Kavanagh have been working together for the majority of McGregor’s professional MMA career, which includes McGregor’s entire UFC run.

Although McGregor has become one of the UFC’s most popular fighters, there was a time when the UFC didn’t think they needed McGregor. Kavanagh recently took to Instagram to share a few posts about McGregor, with the final one being an email from UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby saying the UFC didn’t need McGregor:

“Thanks for the email. If I can use any of your fighters, especially Conor, I will contact you. At the moment, the featherweight division is terribly impacted from so many UFC lightweights moving down in weight. So, I’m not looking to sign anyone else for a while, but hopefully, it will clear up soon and guys like Conor will get the opportunity.”

McGregor is expected to return to action later this year against Dustin Poirier, but nothing has been made official at this time.
