Manny Pacquiao Coach Says Conor McGregor Fight “Does Nothing For His Legacy”

Justin Fortune does not see much stock in Mann Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor.

Former two-division UFC champion McGregor has expressed interest in a boxing match against Pacquiao. The legendary boxer's strength and conditioning coach, Fortune, doesn’t see Pacquiao accepting the bout. Fortune says a fight against McGregor would do nothing for the legacy of Pacquiao.

“Why even make that guy rich?” Fortune told The Manila Times (via Simon Samano of MMA Junkie). “And it won’t do absolutely nothing for Pacquiao as far as his legacy (is concerned). Remember, this is just my opinion: Manny goes down as the greatest fighter in history when he finishes because no one has done what he accomplished in boxing. Why destroy your legacy for a bum like McGregor?”

McGregor has competed just once in the boxing ring, which was a 10th round TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather in what was dubbed “The Money Fight.” Pacquiao’s trainer says that if the fight were to come together, it would take Pacquiao less than three rounds to beat McGregor.

“Manny will destroy Conor McGregor inside three rounds,” Fortune said. “He will obliterate him. Too fast and too strong as an amazing fighter. McGregor is nothing. I mean, my God, this is boxing; we are boxers. McGregor is an MMA guy, and we can’t do MMA, and he can’t box. That’s very simple.”

The former two-division champion retired again from MMA competition earlier this year, but no announcement was made regarding his boxing career.
