UFC light heavyweight contender Magomed Ankalaev and former title challenger, Anthony Smith, are set to face off at UFC 277 on July 30.
MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn and Nolan King reported the news of the matchup being in the works, although it seems the UFC's summer slate accidentally got leaked on UFC President Dana White's recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, which is where the fight was first confirmed. However, the promotion itself has yet to confirm anything regarding the event or booking. Ankalaev is currently on an eight-fight winning streak and defeated former UFC title challenger, Thiago Santos, via a unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 50 in his most recent appearance. Smith on the other hand has won his last three fights and will look to build on a first-round submission win over Ryan Spann back at UFC Vegas 37.
