Bellator lightweight champion, Patricky "Pitbull" Freire is set to make his first title defense against undefeated contender Usman Nurmagomedov at a yet-to-be-announced Bellator 288 event on November 18.
The social media user MMA Fight Universe was the first to report the matchup being in the works on Wednesday, with MMA Junkie providing additional reporting on the specific date for the bout. However, the promotion has yet to officially confirm anything regarding the event or fight. Freire is 2-2 in his last four fights and is coming off of a second-round TKO win over Peter Queally in their rematch at Bellator 270 last November. Nurmagomedov meanwhile, is 4-0 in his four appearances with the promotion and will look to build on a first-round submission victory over Chris Gonzalez at Bellator 283.
