UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich was recently attacked in Honolulu, Hawaii and suffered a broken orbital bone due to said attack.
Honolulu police were investigating the matter and now have arrested Arnold Berdon, who is the husband of Ostovich, on suspicion of second degree attempted murder according to TMZ. The arrest happened on Tuesday, a short time after it was reported that police had started an investigation into the incident.
Although Berdon is being held at the moment, no formal charges have been filed against him at this time. If Berdon is formally charged and found guilty of the charge(s), it could mean a life sentence for the professional MMA fighter without the possibility of parole.
Ostovich, who has since been released from the hospital, had also filed a restraining order against Berdon prior to the arrest. The injuries had also caused Ostovich to be removed from the UFC Fight Night Brooklyn card, where she was expected to battle Paige VanZant.
There has been no comments yet from Ostovich, Berdon or the UFC on the matter.
It is unknown just how long Ostovich is expected to be out of action for, as the fighter has both injuries and personal issues to deal with following the attack. It should also be noted that Berdon is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
