Bellator is reportedly looking to reschedule a planned Bellator middleweight title fight between Douglas Lima and Gegard Mousasi.
Bellator welterweight champion Lima and former Bellator middleweight champion Mousasi were supposed to collide for the vacant middleweight title this past May at Bellator: San Jose. The entire event was canceled due to the ongoig COVID-19 pandemic. It appears the promotion is looking to rebook the fight later this year, according to ESPN's Ariel Helwani.
Lima (32-7-0) is a three-time Bellator welterweight champion, defeating Rory MacDonald, Andrey Koreshkov and Rick Hawn to start those reigns. The Mousasi fight will mark Lima's debut at 185.
Mousasi (46-7-2) defeated Rafael Carvalho to win the middleweight title at Bellator 200. He successfully defended the title against Rory MacDonald beflore losing it to Rafael Lovato Jr. via majority decision at Bellator 223. Mousasi has finished 26 of his pro fights by KO/TKO.
Bellator has booked main event fights for all of their cards through September 12, so the Lima vs. Mousasi fight will likely take place after that.
