Report: Clay Guida Not Pursuing Charges For Combate Americas Brawl

MMA

UFC fighters Clay Guida and Nate Diaz were involved in a scuffle a few months back at a Combate Americas event.

Although Guida did file an incident report with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, nothing more is going to be happening legally as MMA Junkie is reporting that Guida has decided not to pursue charges against the Stockton native.

The whole situation started at a Combate Americas event this past May, when Diaz shoved Guida from behind as both were in the crowd, causing Guida to crash into a metal barricade and split his lip open. No serious injuries were suffered due to Diaz's actions, as Guida would recover and fight a month later at UFC 225

Since Guida is not pursuing any charges against Diaz, it has lead to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department to close the case altogether.

Guida and Diaz have met in the Octagon before, with Guida scoring a decision win over Diaz at UFC 94 in 2009. Diaz is booked against Dustin Poirier for the co-main event of the upcoming UFC 230 card, while Guida does not have another fight lined up at the moment.

There has been no punishment of any kind issued to Diaz by the UFC for instigating the brawl and the promotion never commented publicly on the matter.
