A heavyweight division attraction may be added to UFC Fight Night Moscow according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #3 Alexander Volkov faces #4 Curtis Blaydes.
Volkov (30-6-0) is currently undefeated under the UFC banner, having defeated Timothy Johnson, Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum. Volkov is also a former Bellator MMA Heavyweight Champion, having defeated Rich Hale to win the gold at Bellator 84. Volkov hasn’t suffered a defeat in nearly three years, with that last loss coming to UFC veteran Cheick Kongo at Bellator 139.
Blaydes (10-1-0-1NC) enters the contest riding a four fight winning streak, last defeating Alistair Overeem by third round knockout at UFC 225. Blaydes has suffered just a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Francis Ngannou at UFC Fight Night 86. Blaydes has won just one of three bouts that took place on a “fight night” card, with that lone win coming over Cody East at UFC Fight Night 96.
UFC Fight Night Moscow takes place on Saturday, September 15 from the Olimpiyskiy Arena in Moscow, Russia with Mark Hunt and Aleksey Oleinik headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
