Report: Derrick Lewis Faces Francis Ngannou At UFC 226

A heavyweight division affair has been added to UFC 226 according to Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting as #1 Francis Ngannou faces #6 Derrick Lewis.

Ngannou (11-2-0) is going to be competing for the first time since losing a UFC Heavyweight Title bout to Stipe Miocic at UFC 220. Ngannou has already earned six victories under the UFC banner, with five of those wins coming by way of KO/TKO. Ngannou has only seen two of his professional MMA bouts go the distance and the fighter has lost both of those encounters.

Lewis (19-5-0-1NC) has won seven of his last eight fights under the UFC banner, last defeating Marcin Tybura by third round knockout at UFC Fight Night Austin. Lewis has suffered a total of three defeats during his time in the UFC, with all of those losses coming by way of KO/TKO. Lewis also returns to a pay-per-view card for the first time in two-plus years, with his last such appearance coming at UFC 192 in October of 2015.

UFC 226 takes place on Saturday, July 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
