The Bellator MMA Women’s Featherweight Title is going to be defended in the main event of a yet to be announced January card according to Manouk Akopyan as Julia Budd puts the gold on the line against Cyborg.
Budd (13-2-0) is going to be making the fourth defense of her championship, previously defending it against Arlene Blencowe, Talita Nogueira and Olga Rubin. Budd won the championship back at Bellator 174 in March of 2017, defeating Marloes Coenen by fourth round TKO. Budd has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter, with those defeats coming to Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes.
Cyborg (22-2-0-1NC) is going to be making her Bellator MMA debut in this bout, as the fighter signed the largest female MMA contract when inking a deal with the promotion. Cyborg is a former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion, Invicta FC Featherweight Champion and Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight Champion. Cyborg has suffered two losses as a professional MMA fighter, with those coming to the aforementioned Nunes and Erica Paes.
Bellator MMA: Budd vs. Cyborg takes place on Saturday, January 25 from The Forum in Inglewood, California with Julia Budd and Cyborg headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
