A middleweight division attraction has been added to a yet to be announced UFC card on January 30 as #8 Kelvin Gastelum faces #15 Ian Heinisch.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the bout.
Gastelum (15-6-0-1NC) enters the contest riding a three fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Israel Adesanya, Jack Hermansson and Darren Till. Gastelum has previously challenged for the UFC interim middleweight title, losing to the aforementioned Adesanya at UFC 236. Gastelum hasn’t picked up a win in over two years, with that last victory coming over Ronaldo Souza at UFC 224.
Heinisch (14-3-0) has won just one of his last three in the UFC, with that lone win coming over Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 250. Heinisch also competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Episode 15, defeating Justin Michael Sumter by first round knockout. Heinisch has competed 17 times as a professional MMA fighter and nine of those bouts went the distance.
The yet to be announced UFC card takes place on Saturday, January 30 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
