Li Jingliang has suffered a spinal injury and has been pulled from next months UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale card, where he was set to face Alex Oliveira in a welterweight division affair.
Combate first reported the news, but didn’t specify how long that Jingliang is expected to be out of action for. If the bout had come together, it would’ve mark Jingliang’s first encounter since defeating David Zawada at UFC Fight Night Beijing. Oliveira is also expected to remain on the card at this time, as UFC officials are seeking a replacement opponent for the Brazilian to fight.
Oliveira (19-6-1-2NC) has won two of his last three bouts under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over the duo of Carlos Condit and Carlo Pedersoli Jr. Oliveira has competed as both a lightweight and welterweight in the UFC, earning an overall record of 9-4-0-1NC. Oliveira has picked up nineteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and twelve of those wins came by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night Fort Lauderdale takes place on Saturday, April 27 from the BB&T Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with Yoel Romero and Ronaldo Souza headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
