A flyweight division attraction has been added to the recently announced UFC card on September 12 as Matt Schnell faces Tyson Nam.
MMA Fighting first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Schnell (14-5-0) has won four of his last five fights under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Marco Beltran, Naoki Inoue, Louis Smolka and Jordan Espinosa. Schnell has competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 24, making it to the quarterfinals before losing to Tim Elliott. Schnell has picked up fourteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and eight of them came by way of submission.
Nam (19-11-1) has won just one of three in the UFC, with that lone win coming over Zarrukh Adashev at UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo. Nam has previously challenged for the Fight Night Global Flyweight Title, losing to Zhalgas Zhumagulov by unanimous decision at FNG 86 in April of 2018. Nam has suffered eleven losses as a professional MMA fighter and eight of them came by way of decision.
The recently announced UFC card is set for Saturday, September 12 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
