MMA

Mirsad Bektic has suffered an injury and has been pulled from next month’s UFC 231 card, where he was supposed to fight Renato Moicano.

There is no word yet on exactly what kind of injury Bektic suffered according to the report first filed by Flo Combat or how long the fighter is expected to be out of action for. Moicano is expected to remain on the card at this time, as UFC officials are seeking a replacement opponent for him to fight at the event. No official bout order has been released at this time, it is unknown just where the canceled fight would’ve landed on the card.

Moicano (13-1-1) enters the bout on the strength of a two fight winning streak, having defeated the duo of Calvin Kattar and Cub Swanson. Moicano has suffered just a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came against Brian Ortega at UFC 214. Moicano has seen seven of his fourteen professional MMA fights go the distance and Moicano has won all of those bouts.

UFC 231 takes place on Saturday, December 8 from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with Max Holloway and Brian Ortega headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
