A women’s strawweight division attraction has been added to a March UFC event as #15 Amanda Ribas faces #15 (WFLW) Paige VanZant.
MMA Fighting first reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Ribas (8-1-0) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, defeating the duo of Mackenzie Dern and Emily Whitmire. Ribas has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to fellow UFC fighter Polyana Viana at Jungle Fight 83 in November of 2015. Ribas has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went the distance.
VanZant (8-4-0) has won just two of her last five bouts in the UFC, with those wins coming over Bec Rawlings and Rachael Ostovich. VanZant is going to be back in action for the first time in over a year, as her last encounter took place at UFC Fight Night Brooklyn in January of this year. VanZant has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter, but she has yet to be beaten by way of KO/TKO.
The yet to be announced UFC event takes place on Saturday, March 14 from a location to be announced in Brazil with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
