A women’s flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC 236 according to Comabte as #14 Paige VanZant is going to be in action against Poliana Botelho.
VanZant (8-4-0) has won just one of her last three under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Rachael Ostovich at UFC Fight Night Brooklyn. VanZant has competed as both a strawweight and a flyweight in the UFC, earning an overall record of 5-3-0 in the promotion. VanZant is going to be competing on a UFC pay-per-view card for the first time in over three years, with that last PPV appearance coming at UFC 191 in September of 2015.
Botelho (7-2-0) is looking to rebound from her first UFC defeat, which came at the hands of Cynthia Calvillo at UFC Fight Night Buenos Aires. Botelho had previously won two bouts in the UFC, with those wins coming over the duo of Pearl Gonzalez and Syuri Kondo. Botelho is a former XFC International Women’s Strawweight Champion, defeating Silvana Gomez Juarez to win the gold in September of 2015.
UFC 236 takes place on Saturday, April 13 from a location to be announced and with a main event to be announced. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
