A women’s flyweight division attraction is back on the UFC Fight Night Brooklyn card according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as Paige VanZant faces Rachael Ostovich.
The bout had reportedly been called off after Ostovich suffered a broken orbital bone after allegedly being attacked by her husband, Arnold Berdon. Ostovich got a second opinion on her injuries according to Okamoto and was cleared to compete this January.
VanZant (7-4-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Michelle Waterson and Jessica-Rose Clark. VanZant is also competing for the first time since suffering a broken arm at UFC Fight Night St. Louis, which required two surgeries to fix. VanZant previously competed as a strawweight in the UFC, earning a record of 4-2-0 in that weight class.
Ostovich (4-4-0) has won just one of two under the UFC banner, defeating Karine Gevorgyan and suffering a defeat to Montana De La Rosa. Ostovich competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26, making it to the quarterfinals before losing to Barb Honchak. Ostovich went undefeated as an amateur MMA fighter, which includes a win over fellow UFC star JJ Aldrich.
UFC Fight Night Brooklyn takes place on Saturday, January 19 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
