Markus Perez needs a new opponent for UFC Fight Island 5 after the withdrawal of Rodolfo Vieira and Perez has an opponent in mind in Khamzat Chimaev.
Combate first reported the news of Vieira’s withdrawal. Perez would send a video to MMA Junkie, where he called out Chimaev, saying the following:
“I don’t know your name, but you talk a lot of (expletive) for a guy who just got here. You (knew) I wanted to fight you and you declined? That’s a bunch of bologna, bro.”
Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting would report that the UFC denied Perez’s request to fight Chimaev at the event, leaving Perez with no opponent for UFC Fight Island 5 at this time.
UFC Fight Island 5 takes place on Saturday, October 10 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
