Shamil Gamzatov has been pulled from UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar, replacing him against Ovince St. Preux is Alonzo Menifield.
Marcel Dorff of MMA DNA first reported the news, while also reporting that a bout between Yoel Romero and Uriah Hall will get rescheduled for a future event.
St. Preux (24-14-0) has won just two of his last six under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Tyson Pedro and Michal Oleksiejczuk. St. Preux is back at light heavyweight after a stop at heavyweight, which was a loss to Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira. St. Preux has previously challenged for the UFC Interim Light Heavyweight Title, losing to Jon Jones at UFC 197.
Menifield (9-1-0) is looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Devin Clark at UFC 250. Menifield also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 9, defeating Dashawn Boatwright by first round TKO. Menifield has competed ten times in his professional MMA career and just one of those bouts went the distance.
UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar takes place on Saturday, August 22 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Pedro Munhoz and Frankie Edgar headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
