Report: Stephen Thompson vs. Geoff Neal On December 19 UFC Card

A welterweight division attraction has been added to the December 19 UFC card as (no. 5) Stephen Thompson faces (no. 11) Geoff Neal.

Thompson (15-4-1) has won two of his last six under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Jorge Masvidal and Vicente Luque. Thompson has twice before challenged for the UFC welterweight title, fighting Tyron Woodley to a draw at UFC 205 and losing to Woodley at UFC 209. Thompson has competed 20 times as a professional MMA fighter and 11 of them went the distance.

Neal (13-2-0) is undefeated thus far in the UFC, dropping bouts to Brian Camozzi, Frank Camacho, Belal Muhammad, Niko Price and Mike Perry. Neal also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 3, defeating Chase Waldon by first-round TKO. Neal is competing for the first time in a year, with his last fight taking place in December of 2019.

UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Chimaev takes place on Saturday, December 19 from a location to be announced with Leon Edwards and Khamzat Chimaev headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
