Two dangerous middleweights will collide at UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar as fifth-ranked Yoel Romero fights no. 9 Uriah Hall.
Ariel Helwani of ESPN first reported the bout, and MMA Fighting first reported the date of the fight. The UFC has since confirmed the fight through Twitter.
Romero (13-5-0) is competing for the first time since losing to UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 248. Romero has won just one of his last five fights under the UFC banner. That lone win was against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221. Romero has had three opportunities to win gold in the UFC and he lost all three of those bouts.
Hall (15-9-0) enters the contest on the strength of a two-fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Bevon Lewis and Antonio Carlos Jr. Hall has not suffered a defeat in almost two years. His last defeat was against Paulo Costa at UFC 226. Hall also made it to the finals of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 17, losing to Kelvin Gastelum.
UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar is set for Saturday, August 22 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Nevada. Frankie Edgar will make his bantamweight debut in a main event scrap with Pedro Munho. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event.
