Play-by-Play

(#7) Ketlen Vieira vs. (#8) Miesha Tate

Round One - Vieira opens up the bout with a crisp 1-2 that lands and follows it up with another combination. Tate comes forward but walks into a right hook from Vieira, who lands an overhand right. Vieira continues to land whatever she wants. Tate finally lands as she finds a home for a right hook and follows it up with a 1-2 that also lands. Vieira lands a counter left, Tate gets Vieira locked up in a clinch, Vieira powers out, pushes forward and lands a left hook but Tate quickly latches back on inside of the clinch, Vieira looks for a takedown but Tate stuffs the attempt and the buzzer sounds quickly thereafter to end the round.

Round Two - The Brazilian-born Vieira comes out the aggressor yet again but walks into a pair of jabs from Tate, Vieira responds with a 1-2 that both land. Vieira drills Tate with a right hook, Tate looks hurt then shoots for a takedown but Vieira stuffs it, both are swinging without much blocking involved, not much lands but a wild last 30-seconds end the second round as the horn sounds.

Round Three - Tate opens the third round with a pair of lead leg kicks that hit their mark. Tate then pokes Vieira in the eye which causes a brief stoppage. After a quick examination from the doctor, Vieira is cleared and the action resumes. Tate hits a pair of jabs then eats a pair right back from Vieira as Tate pushes forward. Tate grabs Vieira, who quickly powers away, Tate shoots for a takedown, Vieira turns the attempt away, Tate lands a leg kick, Vieira drills her with a straight right and hits a jab at the buzzer that ends round number three.

Round Four - Tate lands a right hook to open up the first of a potential two main event rounds. Tate shoots for a takedown, Vieira holds firm and backs up to the fence, Tate ends up with a hook in and tries to waddle Vieira to the mat but Vieria spins into the clinch, Tate has double hooks in but Vieira powers away. Tate grabs ahold of Vieira again in the clinch and lands a knee to the body. Vieira drills Tate with an uppercut and just missed a follow up attempt, Tate clinches again, Vieira holds steady and pushes the former champion away as the horn sounds to send this one to the fifth and final round.

Round Five - The final frame opens with a wild exchange that the Brazilian gets the better of and lands a right hook on the break but Tate responds with a stabbing front kick to the body, Vieira lands a pair of jabs right down the middle that open a bad cut on the bridge of Tate's nose that immediately begins to leak. Tate lands a pair of kicks to the body, Vieira misses an overhand right, Tate latches on for a final takedown attempt but it's too late as the buzzer sounds to end this one and it'll be in the judge's hands.

(#6) Michael Chiesa vs. (#13) Sean Brady

Round One - The first strike from Chiesa pokes Brady in the and after a quick look over from the doctor, the action resumes. Brady lands an overhand right to open the action but Chiesa again, pokes him in the eye. Chiesa gets a stern warning from referee Herb Dean and after yet another examination from the cageside physician, Brady is cleared and the action resumes. Brady avoids a flurry of strikes from Chiesa then shoots for a double leg and gets it, Chiesa uses the cage to surge to his feet but Brady quickly takes him right back down and rides the remaining time out on top until the buzzer sounds.

Round Two - Brady lands a left to open the middle frame, Chiesa lands a 1-2 in response and follows it up with a slick left hook and lands another left hand. Brady latches on Chiesa’s body, presses him against the fence and drags him down to the mat. Brady gets Chiesa’s back, gets both hooks in but runs out of time as the horn sounds to send this one to the third and final round.

Round Three - Chiesa immediately initiates the clinch, Brady quickly powers out and Chiesa lands a hook on the break that stuns Brady, Chiesa knows he's hurt and surges forward but Brady smartly shoots for a takedown and gets but Chiesa quickly scrambles to his feet but Brady gets a single-leg and takes Chiesa right back down to the mat. Brady gets Chiesa’s back, Chiesa scrambles, Brady forces him back down as Chiesa continues to fight the hands. Chiesa scrambles, pushes off the fence and gets back on the feet and he drills Brady with an uppercut and follows it up with a step-in knee but Brady catches the leg and presses Chiesa against the fence. Chiesa tosses Brady to the mat and quickly transitions to side control before getting mount and reigning ground-and-pound until the buzzer, which sends this one to the judge's scorecards.

Result: (#13) Sean Brady def. (#6) Michael Chiesa via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

(#5) Joanne Wood vs. (#10) Taila Santos

Round One - Wood lands a right hook, Santos fires back with a right of her own and she drops Wood, Santos goes in, lands a few follow-up shots, Wood somehow stays in this one and gets to her feet, but Santos drops her with another hook. Santos is relentless and looks for the finish with some heavy ground-and-pound and scrambles to Wood's back, looks for the choke, Wood fights the hands but to no avail and Wood's forced to tap. What a performance by Santos!

Result: (#10) Taila Santos def. (#5) Joanne Wood by submission via rear-naked choke (4:49, R1)

Rani Yahya vs. Kyung Ho Kang

Round One - Yahya immediately shoots for a takedown, Kang stuffs and backs up against the fence, Yahya fights both of Kang's legs, Kang gets to one foot but Yahya flips around to his back while against the fence, Yahya eventually pulls guard, Kang scrambles up to his feet, where he lands a jab. Kang lands lands a right hook, Yahya fired back with an inside leg kick but Kang drops Yahya with a right hook, Kang ruzhed over to Yahya but is very hesitant on going to the ground, so he allows Yahya to his feet. Yahya nails Kang with a leg kick and shoots for a takedown, can't get it and pulls guard at the horn to end the opening frame.

Round Two - Yahya wastes no time and gets Kang to the mat. Yahya gets the back, secures the body triangle, Kang fights the hands, Yahya lands a bevy of shots to the head of Kang but can't find much room to transition into any dangerous position but Yahya rides out the entire round in control until the buzzer sounds to end a relatively uneventful middle round.

Round Three - Yahya opens the third and final round with a 1-2 but Kang throws fire back and lands a combination of his own, Kang lands a right hook, Yahya falls to the mat, Kang follows, Yahya grabs the neck, Kang rolls, the pair scramble to their feet, Yahya still has the neck but finally lets go and quickly takes Kang's back, Kang rolls himself backwards, Yahya ends up Kang's guard and that's where this one will end as the buzzer sounds to end this one and we'll go to the judge's scorecards.

Result: Rani Yahya def. Kyung Ho Kang via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Davey Grant vs. Adrian Yanez

Round One - Grant lands a leg kick to open the action, Yanez responds a 1-2 that lands. Grant slips on a right hook attempt and flips backward, he recovers but eats an uppercut from Yanez. An overhand right lands for Yanez and follows it up with a pair of leg kicks. Grant counters with an inside leg kick but is sporting some blood on the bridge of his nose. Grant lands a quick 1-2, and follows it up with a kick to the midsection. An overhand right from Yanez wobbled Grant and Yanez follows it up with another overhand to stun Grant at the buzzer which will send this one to round number two.

Round Two - Yanez lands a right hand to begin the second team, Grant throws some heat back and lands. A 1-2 from Grant is followed by a high kick that's partially blocked. Yanez chops the lead leg of Grant, who goes for a spinning back fist and a step-in knee, Yanez catches the leg and toss Grant to the mat, Grant scrambled back to his feet and pokes Yanez in the eye. The action is briefly paused before Yanez gives the OK to resume the bout. Grant immediately shoots for a takedown, Yanez stuffs the attempt and continues to chop at the lead leg of Grant. Yanez jabs, Grant counters with a combination and then an overhand right. Grant lands a flying knee and follows it up with a flurry of punches and the buzzer sounds to send this one to the third and final round.

Round Three - Yanez works the lead leg of Grant to begin the final frame. Grant’s now leaking blood from his nose but it's not doing much to stop his forward march. Yanez lands a left hand. Grant goes for another flying knee that just misses. The pair trade kicks, Grant lands a left hook and Yanez counters with a pair of jabs to the mashed up nose of Grant, who throws a wild spinning attempt, misses, Yanez throws a Hail Mary flying knee at the buzzer, but to no avail. This one is going to the judge's scorecards. What a fight.

Result: Adrian Yanez def. Davey Grant via split-decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28)
