Another title fight has been added to next month’s Cage Warriors 82 card as Chris Fishgold will be defending the lightweight title against Jani Salmi.
Fishgold (16-1-1) will be making the third defense of his championship, previously defending it against both Jason Ponet and WSOF veteran Nic Herron-Webb. Fishgold won the championship back at Cage Warriors 77 after submitting Adam Boussiff in the opening round. Fishgold will be entering the fight on the strength of a six fight winning streak, which has last over a year already.
Salmi (9-2-0) will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and he will be doing so while on an eight fight winning streak. Salmi is also a longtime veteran of the Fight Night Finland promotion, where four of his nine pro MMA wins took place at. It has been over four years since the last time Salmi suffered a defeat, which came by way of unanimous decision to Kennett Mattsson at Cage MMA 21.
Cage Warriors 82 takes place on Saturday, April 1 from the Echo Arena Liverpool in Liverpool, England with Paddy Pimblett and Nad Narimani headlining. The main card will be airing live on UFC Fight Pass, Fightful will be proving live quick results coverage of the event.
