Tito Ortiz vs. Alberto El Patron Slated For December 7

After months of teasing Tito Ortiz versus Alberto El Patron, we finally have a date for the bout because Combate Americas officials appeared on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show to announce that the fight will take place on Saturday, December 7. The bout will air on pay-per-view at a price point that is reportedly set at $39.99 and will also go head to head with a UFC Fight Night card headlined by Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris

Ortiz (20-12-1) will enter the contest on the strength of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Chuck Liddell and Chael Sonnen. Ortiz is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, defeating Wanderlei Silva to win the gold at UFC 25 in April of 2000. Ortiz has picked up twenty wins as a professional MMA fighter and half of those victories have come by way of KO/TKO.

Del Rio (9-5-0) is going to be competing for the first time in over nine years and hasn’t picked up a professional MMA victory in over nines years. Del Rio did compete twice under the PRIDE banner, dropping bouts to the duo of Mirko Cro Cop and Kazuhiro Nakamura. Del Rio has had a ton of success as a professional wrestler, winning championships in the WWE, Impact Wrestling, AAA, CMLL and other places.

Combate Americas: Ortiz vs. El Patron takes place on Saturday, December 7 from the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas with Tito Ortiz and Alberto El Patron headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on pay-per-view.
