Viewership, Ratings Down for 6/11 Top Rank On ESPN Card

Top Rank's second fight card in the United States this week did not fare better in the ratings.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the June 11 Top Rank on ESPN card, headlined by Jessie Magdaleno vs. Yenifel Vicente, averaged 311,000 viewers and drew a 0.09 rating in the 18-49 demographic (80th best on cable for the day). Both numbers are down from the June 9 show (397,000 viewers/0.17 rating/33rd on cable).

The card saw only four fights aired on ESPN after a fifth fight was scrapped due to one fighter being six pounds over the contracted weight limit. The show opened with an exciting, back-and-forth fight between Adam Lopez and Louie Coria for the vacant NABF featherweight belt, which Lopez won via majority decision.

Magdaleno won the main event by disqualification after Vicente threw low blows throughout the entire fight. Vicente was knocked down twice during the bout and docked multiple points due to low blows before the fight was stopped in the 10th round.

This was the second Top Rank Boxing card that aired on ESPN since February with the Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury 2 prelims. Those prelims averaged 862,000 viewers and drew a 0.28 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Top Rank also had ESPN shows on January 18 (704,000 viewers/0.26 rating in 18-49 demo) and January 11 (388,000 viewers/a 0.13 rating in 18-49 demo).

Top Rank formally announced ESPN cards taking place on June 16, June 18 and June 20 with all but the June 20 show taking place in Las Vegas. The June 20 show, headlined by WBO super bantamweight champion Emanuel Navarrete competing in a featherweight bout, is taking place at the TV Azteca Studios in Mexico City, Mexico.
