What Would Dustin Poirer Do Differently Against Khabib Nurmagomedov?: "Not Get Choked"

Dustin Poirier had an amusing response when asked about his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242.

Poirier reflected on his lightweight title fight 10 UFC pay-per-views ago. On Friday, Poirier was asked by a fan, "If there was anything you would’ve done different[ly] in the Khabib fight, what would it have been?" Poirier (26-6-0-1) gave a rather obvious response.

"Not get choked," Poirier quipped. Fair enough.

Poirier entered UFC 242 as the interim lightweight champion, an honor he earned after out-working Max Holloway in a thrilling five-round war. Poirier showed flashes against the undefeated Nurmagomedov (28-0), clipping him and snatching a tight guillotine choke. Nurmagomedov maintained his perfect record by out-grappling "The Diamond" en route to a third-round rear-naked choke finish.

Poirier subsequently bounced back in a war of attrition against Dan Hooker on June 27. Poirier earned a unanimous decision in a fight that left both battered and bruised. Nurmagomedov will return for the first time since the Poirier match-up in yet another lightweight title unification bout — this time against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on October 24.
