The fighter has issued a warning to Gillespie, saying things could get bad if Gillespie tries anything funny during the weigh-ins.
“When it’s time to get down, it’s time to get down... You gonna give me a bad vibe, I don’t tolerate that stuff. I don’t play that kissing game... I do that with my girlfriend. If you’re going to get up in my face, I don’t tolerate that. If you wanna put your hands up we can put our hands up, but you ain’t going to be putting your face in my face. Nah, step back. There’s a line,” Medeiros said to Bloody Elbow. “If [Gillespie] gets up in my face he is going to have a rude awakening cause it ain’t going to be a smile with my face, it’s going to be a smile with my fist.”
Weigh-ins for UFC Fight Night Brooklyn are slated for Friday from the Barclays Center, which is the home to Saturday Nights event.
Medeiros doesn’t think anything will happen on Friday, as he believes that Gillespie is a cool person.
“From what I see, he looks like a cool guy,” Medeiros said. “I see that he likes to fish. Bro, after the fight, come to Hawaii. Let’s go fishing, bro. I don’t even know how to fish but I’ll take you to all the fish spots.”
UFC Fight Night Brooklyn takes place on Saturday, January 19 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
