Report: Shield Vs. New Day Planned For Survivor Series

Two of the biggest trios in recent WWE memory will battle at Survivor Series.

It was mentioned on a post-Smackdown Fightful podcast that a match between the Shield and The New Day will likely go down at Survivor Series. Roman Reigns, who has been cleared to return to the ring after suffering a case of the mumps, will return this Monday on Raw, likely setting up the match for November 19.

There is already a reason as to why the Shield would want such a match. The New Day came out during a title match between Cesaro and Shemaus against then champions Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. They threatened to invade Raw like they did a few weeks ago, which caused Kurt Angle to come out with the Raw roster in an attempt to thwart their plans. In the confusion, Sheamus laid out Rollins with a brogue kick and pinned him to win the titles.

This would be the first time the Shield has reunited for a match in a number of years. They were supposed to reunite at TLC in a 3 on 5 handicap match against The Bar, Braun Strowman, Kane and The Miz, but on the Friday before the event Reigns came down with the mumps. Instead, Kurt Angle made his return to the ring and helped the remaining members of the Shield pick up the win.
