Bellator MMA President Scott Coker has signed a lot of big names to the promotion since he took over a few years back and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell could be that next big name.
However, before the promotion would even consider taking a chance on “The Iceman,” the fighter would have to pass a litany of tests.
“I’d have to talk to Viacom about it,” Coker told MMA Junkie. “He’d have to go through a battery of tests, and it would be a longer process than he would be fighting in January.”
Liddell hasn’t fought since UFC 115 over five years ago, where he was knocked out by former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin.
Coker hasn’t even been in much contact with Liddell about coming to the promotion for a fight, even though he has done promotional work for them in the past.
“I’ve got to reach out and see if (Liddell would) like to do some fan fest stuff for us and be in the community, but that’s it,” Coker said. “There’s no fight for him. We really haven’t even had that conversation.”
If Liddell does in fact sign with the promotion down the line, then Chael Sonnen has already stated that he would want to fight him.
