2024 AEW Continental Classic Tournament Winner Crowned At AEW Worlds End

The 2024 Continental Classic Champion has been crowned.

Kazuchika Okada defeated Will Ospreay at AEW Worlds End in the finals of the Continental Classic Tournament to retain his Continental Championship. Okada got the victory with a Rainmaker, but he needed more than one to do it as Ospreay kicked out of the first attempt. As the first defending Continental Champion to enter the tournament, he has also become the first to successfully retain the Continental Championship in the tournament.

AEW touted Okada as tying the record for five major tournament victories. He has won four NJPW G1 Climax Tournaments in the past. He has tied Masahiro Chono for this record.

During the first match of the night, Will Ospreay defeated Kyle Fletcher to advance to the finals. Ospreay was busted open early in the match, and despite taking several kicks to the head and Brainbusters, combined with the loss of blood, he was able to score the victory over his former friend with a Hurricanrana and a Styles Clash.

Now, Ospreay and Fletcher are 1-1 in their rivalry following the victory that Fletcher scored over Ospreay at AEW Full Gear.

Kazuchika Okada advanced to the finals by defeating Ricochet in a competitive match after he hit a Rainmaker for the victory. Ricochet was covered in toilet paper after the match. Learn more about that at this link.

Okada was confronted by the returning Kenny Omega after the match. Christopher Daniels, who was an interim EVP for AEW, came out and revealed that he couldn't crown Okada as champion because Omega, the real AEW EVP was back. All Kenny did was hand Okada his belt.

This was the first time Omega appeared since being taken out by Okada, Jack Perry, Matthew Jackson, and Nicholas Jackson on the May 1 episode of Dynamite. A vignette for his return aired on the December 18 episode of AEW Dynamite.
