David Finlay On The Hardest He's Ever Been Hit In The Ring: I Was Like 'Don't Cry'

There's only been one time in his life that David Finlay has had to tell himself not to cry, and it was at a previous year's NJPW Windy City Riot.

David Finlay is a genuine tough guy in professional wrestling. Much like his father, Finlay hits hard and gets hit harder. But that's not to say he enjoys the pain; nor that he doesn't actually feel it. He does.

Finlay recently shared a moment with Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp that, Finlay said, was the hardest he's ever been hit in a professional wrestling ring.

"I'll give you a weapons one then. Actually, Windy City Riot a few years ago, we had a street fight. It was like me, Juice, Brody King against Jonah, Shane Haste and Bad Dude Tito. Shane and I was in the corner. Shane had one arm. Bad Dude Tito had the other arm and Jonah wailed me with a kendo stick and I had to go -- that is the only time I've ever been at wrestling ring and I was like, ‘Don't cry.’ It was so painful. Then he hit me again in the exact same spot even harder. I was just like, ‘Uh, this sucks.’ Like that was rough. That was rough. I can't think of any specific time not involving weapons because like in New Japan, we just hit hard. You just kind of get used to it. It's a hard-hitting company. Nothing really sticks out. There's some times where, ‘Well, that wasn't fun.’ But yeah, kind of everything. Once you get hit hard, you get used to it," Finlay shared.

Final was hit hard at this year's Windy City Riot as well, when he took on Zack Sabre Jr.
