"The Phenomenal One" has a phenomenal feeling about his match at WrestleMania.
On April 8th, AJ Styles will walk into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to defend his WWE Championship against the winner of the 2018 Men's Royal Rumble match, Shinsuke Nakamura. The last time these two titans clashed was at Wrestle Kingdom 10 two years ago where Nakamura bested Styles to retain the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. That match was a show-stealer and Styles feels that this upcoming match between the two will be nothing less than just that; a show-stealer. "The Champ That Runs the Camp" was a part of a international media conference call yesterday afternoon, where he stated the following. [The Hindustan Times]
“I don’t know if there is too much pressure, as I believe that we can have a great fight regardless of the situation. The pressure exists to be at WrestleMania, but I do not think that affects us. I know a lot of people wanted to see us and now we will try to give them what they have expected for so long,” Styles continued, “I was very excited to see that Shinsuke won Royal Rumble and to know that he wanted to fight me at WrestleMania. I think we’ll steal the show and it does not matter if we’re in the main fight or a place on the card, we’re going to drive everyone crazy and I know we’ll steal the night."
Styles has been in the news as of late due to him dealing with a leg injury. There is no word on how serious the injury is or the extent of it, but AJ has already stated that he will not be missing WrestleMania under any circumstance.
"There is no question when it comes to my appearance at this year’s WrestleMania. I will be there, I promise. Even if I have to limp on one leg or come out with a crutch."
The current WWE Champion being a fan himself is also excited to see the other action on the WrestleMania 34 card. Styles would give his pick for the match he's most invested in other than his own, and he revealed that the SmackDown Live Women's Championship match between Charlotte Flair & Asuka is one that he is looking forward to watching.
"Trust me, there are a lot of big matches in this year’s WrestleMania. But, if you ask me, the match I am most looking forward to is the SmackDown Women’s Title match between Charlotte and Asuka,” he said in a media conference call.
