Alex Hammerstone Suffers Apparent Injury On 4/18 MLW Underground, Court Bauer Comments

Alex Hammerstone left the War Chamber match with an apparent injury.

On the April 18 episode of MLW Underground, MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone captained a team that waged war with The Calling (AKIRA, Delirious, Rickey Shane Page, and Doctor Cornwallis) in the War Chamber match. Hammerstone joined forces with Mance Warner, Matthew Justice, and 1 Called Manders for the bout. The two teams battled it out, but when it was Hammerstone's turn to enter, he didn't last long in the match.

It's not clear what caused the injury, but at one point in the bout, Hammerstone stayed on the ground, and subsequently left the cage. Officials helped him to the back as he was removed from the match.

The Calling ultimately won the War Chamber match; Rickey Shane Page pinned Matthew Justice to win the match for his team.

Later in the show, an ambulance arrived and took Hammerstone to the hospital. When asked for an update about Hammerstone's status, MLW CEO Court Bauer noted that he had never seen the champion in so much pain.

He stated that they would deal with the situation on a day-by-day basis and make a decision based on that. Bauer made it clear that he didn't like the idea of potentially having an interim champion when the idea was posed to him by interviewer Sam Leterna.
