Alex Shelley Says He Doesn't Have COVID-19 Nor An Injury, Promises Bullet Club A Receipt Will Come

Alex Shelley issues an apology for being forced to miss the main event of Hard To Kill and promises Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers that he will, one day, get a receipt for their actions.

On Friday, January 15th, 2021, it was announced that Alex Shelley would no longer be competing in the main event of IMPACT Wrestling’s Hard To Kill where he was scheduled to team with Chris Sabin and Rich Swann against Karl Anderson, Doc Gallows, and Kenny Omega.

In a statement released on the official Twitter of IMPACT Wrestling, Alex Shelley announced that he does not have COVID-19 nor any orthopedic injury. Without being too specific, Shelley states that his current issue is complex and both he and IMPACT management are choosing to put safety first so that nobody is at risk at this pay-per-view or going forward.

“There are certain things in life that are just out of our control, and unfortunately my ability to compete at Hard To Kill has been dropped into that bucket,” he began. “So on that note, I owe an apology to Chris Sabin, I owe one to Rich Swann, I owe one of the fans, and I owe a receipt to The Good Brothers and Kenny Omega. I don't like getting beat up by you, but I've accepted that that's happened multiple times and I was looking forward to returning the favor. So you'll get that in the mail, and you'll keep the yellow copy. I assure everyone out there I do not have COVID. I am not orthopedically injured, but in the interest of safety, my situation is a very complex one.

“I put that first, as does IMPACT management, and they are doing the utmost in terms of precautions to make sure that nobody is at risk at Hard To Kill or going forward. However, as a transient figure in pro wrestling, I promise you that no matter what, I'll be back in IMPACT. You can count on that.”

Alex Shelley will be replaced by Moose in the main event matchup. Fightful will have live coverage of the event beginning with the countdown show on AXS TV on Saturday, January 16, 2021.
