One day after being involved in an angle on NXT, Alexander Wolfe was released by WWE.
Fightful first reported that Wolfe was released by WWE on Wednesday, May 19.
Wolfe battled Killian Dain on the May 18 episode of NXT, losing in the singles bout. Following the match, Imperium members Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner attacked Wolfe, seemingly kicking him out of Imperium. There had been dissension in Imperium for weeks with as Wolfe attempted, and failed, to recruit his former SAnitY running mate Killian Dain into the group.
Wolfe sent out the following tweet after news of his release was reported.
Just for the record:
— Axel The Axeman Tischer (@TheWWEWolfe) May 19, 2021
My WWE contract will expire on June 15th.
That means I'm a free agent on June 16th.
I have a lot in my head right now
so let's keep it short:
Thank you @WWENXT @WWE for 6 year.
Bye bye pic.twitter.com/hB09dG8RC3
Wolfe was signed by WWE in 2015 and held the NXT Tag Team Titles alongside Eric Young. He joined the main roster with SAnitY in 2018 before heading to NXT UK to join Imperium in 2019.
Killer Kelly told Fightful recently that Alexander Wolfe actually has a friendship with Josh Barnett and helped her get booked for Bloodsport.
