Not all wrestlers took Ric Flair's chops the same -- which is to be expected
Ric Flair famously slapped the chest of his opponents for the majority of his matches, which garnered endearing "woo" screams to this day.. In the corner, he would palm strike them in the chest which usually got a reaction from the crowd. On a past episode of The Steve Austin Podcast, Flair was asked by host Steve Austin which wrestlers disliked his chops the most. Flair mentioned two WWE Hall-of-Famers who came to mind as the biggest complainers.
"You just hit them with a slap in the chest and it makes all the noise. It's funny because the two guys that hated them the most...One of them had the best chest in the world to chop was The Undertaker. Of course, he has that four mile radius. He would say 'I'm going to take four and that's it. Make them good.' You know Bret (Hart) just hated them. He'd beg me...Some guys don't like the sting," said Flair.
Flair and Austin said The Nature Boy's chops are not the hardest hitting. They both named other wrestlers who would leave them bloody and bruised after chops. Also on the podcast, Flair and Austin discussed Flair's early career working in AWA and NWA, including how he stole his chops and flops from veterans. Flair said he took influence from Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk, and others. He admitted to being a "mark for Dusty."
