Aron Stevens, formerly known as Damien Sandow in WWE, talks about the success of Damien Mizdow.
After Damien Sandow failed to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2013, his next big career break came in the form of a comedy act where he was the understudy and stunt double of The Miz.
Dubbed "Damien Mizdow," this run would net Stevens the only gold he would ever win in WWE as he and The Miz became WWE Tag Team Champions.
During a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, Stevens praised Miz and said that the only reason the character got over so strongly was because he had strong material to parody. Stevens also spoke about the timing and chemistry he shared with the former WWE Champion.
“I think there was no Mizdow without Miz. If I didn’t have a subject to base my satire on, I wouldn’t have had that. So that’s a testament to the timing Miz and I had. Miz and I are, you know, I say we’re friends. Like, we haven’t really talked or anything. But if we saw each other, it’d be cool. Like, there’d be what’s up, man. We came up in OVW and stuff, and out there though, we had timing about it because that’s all that was. It was Miz doing his thing and then allowing me to do my thing. Then going into it, he was very, very cool about it. Our best moments were not discussed. Truly, they weren’t, we didn’t talk about them. They happened organically.”
Currently, Stevens is the manager of the NWA World Tag Team Champions Blunt Force Trauma (Damage & Carnage) and can be seen regularly every Tuesday on NWA Powerrr.

The Miz remains with WWE to this day. Most recently he has rekindled another alliance as he has begun teaming with R-Truth in recent weeks.
